Treatment with the fractional CO2 laser is a well-proven and long-tested procedure that has been re-established and has developed into the gold standard for skin rejuvenation, using modern CO2 lasers that have since been updated multiple times. This procedure harnesses the skin’s own regenerative capacity to partially reform and grow back. Multiple tiny skin areas are ablated in a controlled manner using the CO2 laser, which creates many tiny holes within a defined area of the skin. The fractional CO2 laser emits laser energy in tiny spots to create small holes in the skin and remove old skin. The laser energy stimulates the immigration of new cells, the production of collagen and elastin to improve the appearance of the skin.
This laser is used in anti-aging treatment of wrinkles, fine lines, scars and sun damage. The field of treatment is therefore very wide, since the laser initiates a complete renewal of the epidermis, which naturally has a corresponding effect on many indications mentioned.
The treatment is very efficient, as a lot of energy is delivered already in the first session. The duration depends on the size of the area to be treated. Usually, one treatment lasts between 30 and 60 minutes.
The treatment may cause some degree of pain or discomfort. We do not recommend this treatment as an entry-level medical cosmetic treatment, as the treatment is very intense and also causes a high downtime. Usually, the pain is well tolerated and is additionally alleviated with a painkilling cream and cooling.
