In the salmon DNA treatment, highly purified polynucleotide fragments – DNA building blocks that are structurally very similar to human DNA – are introduced into the skin in a targeted way. To do this, we combine a high-precision microneedling procedure with the infusion of the salmon DNA active ingredient. Through ultra-fine micro-channels, the polynucleotides reach the layers of the skin where they actually take effect: the fibroblasts, the body’s own “builders” of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
Unlike classic fillers, polynucleotides do not “fill” anything. They stimulate the skin to regenerate itself – over several weeks to months. The effects: a stronger skin structure, improved moisture retention, more elasticity and a visibly rested complexion. Salmon DNA is therefore considered one of the most exciting active ingredients in modern biostimulation – with particularly good tolerability even in sensitive areas such as the eye area, the neck or the décolleté.
Polynucleotides are considered the next generation of biostimulating active ingredients in aesthetic medicine. Instead of short-term volume effects, they work on the quality of the skin itself – and thus towards a result that develops and lasts longer.

The salmon DNA treatment can be booked individually or as part of an individual treatment plan – for example combined with radiofrequency needling, medical peels or as a follow-up treatment after laser procedures. Consultation and treatment are carried out by our experienced team at the institute for medical cosmetics.
Frequently asked questions about the salmon DNA treatment
Polynucleotides are short DNA fragments obtained from highly purified salmon DNA. They are structurally very similar to human genetic material, are processed using specialized purification methods and contain exclusively DNA fractions – no animal proteins. In aesthetic medicine they are considered a biostimulator: they stimulate the skin to regenerate itself instead of filling it.
Hyaluronic acid fillers add volume and have an immediately visible effect. Polynucleotides work differently: they stimulate the skin’s cells to produce more collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid themselves. The result develops over several weeks, looks natural and concerns not the volume but the quality of the skin.
For almost all skin types – especially for tired, stressed skin or skin in need of regeneration, for first fine lines, for sensitive skin or as aftercare following more intensive procedures. Polynucleotides also show very good effects on acne scars and sun-damaged skin.
We recommend a course of 3–5 sessions 3–4 weeks apart. To maintain the result, a refresher every 3–6 months is ideal.
Slight redness, small pinpoint bleeding spots or slight swelling may occur briefly. These usually subside within 24 to 48 hours. Make-up is usually possible again the following day.
A first glow often appears just a few days after the treatment. The actual biostimulating effect – that is, the formation of new collagen and elastin – develops over several weeks. The best result is visible after the course is complete.
Yes, very well in fact. Polynucleotides combine ideally with microneedling, radiofrequency needling, fractional radiofrequency, IPL or laser treatments. They are also excellently suited as a regenerative follow-up treatment after intensive treatments (e.g. CO2 laser).
Yes. Polynucleotides have an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect and are usually very well tolerated by sensitive skin. The treatment can also be useful if you have a tendency to rosacea – we clarify this individually in the preliminary consultation.
The treatment is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in the case of acute skin inflammation or herpes outbreaks in the treatment area, active autoimmune diseases, or a known allergy to salmon or to the local anesthetic used. If you take blood thinners, please consult us beforehand.
Direct sunlight should be avoided for 1–2 weeks, and sun protection with SPF 50+ is a must during this time – also for an optimal treatment result.
