Excessive sweating

  • Up to 2% of the population suffer from excessive sweating which is not caused by any obvious cause, such as, heat or physical exertion
  • The first step is an in-depth consultation where it is investigated whether there is an underlaying medical cause or illness exacerbating the sweating and a discussion of the various treatment methods

Skin cancer screening

  • Skin cancer is one of the most common malignant tumours
  • The earlier the prevention, the better the prognosis – yearly skin cancer screening is recommended
  • Reflected light microscope screenings. Photo documentation & comparison of irregular presentation of moles – followed with a check-up
  • Diagnosis, therapy and treatment for all kinds of skin cancer, (e.g. malignant melanoma, pre-cancerous cells, the so called ‘light’ skin cancer (basel cell carcinoma), squamous cell carcinoma or Bowens disease)
  • Assessment of chronic sun damage and treatment of the early phases of ‘light’ skin cancer, e.g. actinic keratoses
  • Therapy and monitoring (staging) of skin cancers

Allergies

  • Allergy testing:
    • Conventional prick tests as well as blood analysis (RAST)
    • Modern blood testing: With just one blood test, it is possible to screen for allergic reactions to over 200 allergens. Blood is taken from the finger tip, (containing capillary blood). These tests are especially appropriate for children as well as adults
  • Hives (acute & chronic recurrent urticaria)
  • Eczema (Atopy and Atopic dermatitis): Consultation and therapy on dry skin – eczema & hives are a specialism of mine!
  • Hay fever (allergic Rhinokonjunktivitis, Pollinosis)

Childhood illnesses

  • Babies and children are most welcome at the surgery!
  • As a dermatologist and a Mother, I pay extra attention and care to my young patients. It is of central importance that a visit to the surgery is a comfortable experience for children and that we create a happy atmosphere which means they would like to return again in the future
  • In particular my strengths are:
    • Eczema (Atopy)
    • Fungal infections – bacterial and viral childhood illnesses
    • Allergy testing, intolerance testing
    • Acne
    • Worts
    • Nappy rash
    • Documentation of congenital moles using a direct light microscope

Operative dermatology

  • Minor surgical interventions are carried out in the surgery under local anaesthetic. This means that you can go home immediately after the procedure. On request, procedures can also be performed by an anaesthesiologist in the surgery while the patient is under short duration anaesthesia. Operations which necessitate an overnight stay are carried out at the “Rudolfinerhaus” – a private hospital in Vienna.
  • I perform a variety of operative interventions, including:
    • Removal of benign skin presentations with laser therapy (Dioden Laser, CO2 Laser), curettage, cauterization (electrical surgery), Cryotherapy and sclerotherapy
    • The removal of skin samples (biopsies), mole removal, removal of skin tags / fleshy warts and other skin growths
    • Operations which necessitate an overnight stay at hospital, e.g., at the private hospital Rudolfinerhaus in Vienna, such as for larger growths in the face or skin transplants
  • All skin samples are sent for a histological examination at a local laboratory for further assessment

Venereology

  • The treatment of sexually transmitted diseases is part of my professional range of expertise. I offer professional and discrete consultation and treatment. The screening for sexually transmitted diseases is usually tested with a smear test or a blood test, which are then sent to a specialist laboratory for analysis.
  • The most commonly presented sexually transmitted diseases are:
    • Genital warts (Condyloma acuminata) – the removal of which takes place with a laser in the surgery
    • Gonorrheoa (Tripper)
    • Syphillis
